Echidna's will travel

Echidnas are on the move at the moment, they can leave their burrow and travel up to 10km in search for food. If you’re lucky enough to find one hiding in your back yard it is best to leave them alone and keep your pets inside. Echidnas will burrow themselves in the ground when they feel threatened, by leaving them alone and admiring them from a distance they will continue on their journey.

Echidna’s have an amazing scent trail, much like a GPS! This is how they find their way home to their burrow so we never like to disturb or relocate them as they may loose that trail and be unable to return home to feed their puggles Rescuers will usually only attend to an echidna if it has been injured. So please enjoy their visit and give us a call if you are unsure.
